against all odds

so yesterday was scan day. J and I were nervous, anxious ninnys, our app was only at 13h30 and we didn’t know what to do with ourselves (or what to say to each other from the time we woke up). I just had to keep thinking it is what it is, after all we only had a 12% chance that this was going to work.
So the day was blur, J and and I have been pretty busy with work lately, especially since J company bought over Legit, so 1pm came an off J and I were off to our app.
J looked like she just wanted to permanently throw up, maybe cause of morning sickness she recently started experiencing or the nerves, we will just say morning sickness to be positive.
So because our app was pushed out from yesterday,¬†Dr C was running late, 45 min to be exact, but we did hear some interesting stuff in the reception we didn’t know before.
Dr C doesn’t deal with pregnant ladies, he only deals with the fertility bit…will need to ask more on this later.
Eventually it is our turn to go into the room, J gets changed and lays on the bed. Dr C walks in with the biggest grin and quite chirpy and says “you just upped my results, now I can tell people, you see it can work first time”
This was very exciting for us, Dr C tells J to lay down and inserts his scanner probe thing and what seemed like a life time of him looking for something and a bit of awkward silence we get to see our little egg with a blinking beating heart…YES! HALLELUJAH!
Dr C says I must take pics and allows me a few pics of the screen, he then lets us listen to the heart beat…best feeling EVER. He carries on with his measurements, 147 bpm and scan predicts 7 weeks 4 days pregnant.
Dr C does another check around and says only 1 in here ūüė¶ …we will take it though,¬†was hoping 2 since J had a number of big eggs Dr C liked but beggars can’t be choosers. He noticed that J now has a big cyst from where the egg came from. Dr C¬†didn’t seem to phased about this just mentioned that must take it easy and not do anything that may cause torsion. ¬†Dr C then said if you feel any pain we must call him since other docs may think it’s appendix and then want to operate and then we lose the pregnancy, HELL NO that won’t be happening.
So Dr C takes some pics and leads us to his¬†room next door, we sit down and we get a crash course on the internal reproductive system picture again, same one we used on our first consult. He uses some circle calendar thing and says due date will be 4 November. He says because the size is good we have a 89% chance of delivering but obviously we not at 12 weeks so because the period between now and¬†12 weeks is so far and he says most people can’t wait that long, he offers us a free scan at 10 weeks becuase he knows people just get itchy feet and want to know what’s¬†going on in there, to see if everything is good then we move into the high 90’s to successfully deliver.
J to keep taking her folic acid and if all good after 12 weeks then will move onto better stuff for vitamins.
J not to do any strenuous exercise and to keep her heart rate below 140, can’t be above that for extended period of time.
We can still carry on with our sexual life, this is great to hear as we been to scared to do anything since¬†the insemination date as we didn’t want to interfere with the good sperm, silly I know but we had to be pedantic since we weren’t working with good odds.
The staff were really great at Dr C rooms, all were so happy for us and congratulations all round.
Scan sheduled for 10 April, may need to change this date since J gets back from the UK for work the day before.
Will keep you posted but for now you can see¬†our little bean and it’s¬†heart beat.

Pregnant (=^.^=)

So j and i have spent a relaxing weekend in the berg with the¬†folks…well…it was relaxing for me but j had gastro all weekend so was (wo)man down and horizontal all weekend.
since j was due to get aunt flow yesterday/today (this could be a positive sign), we decided we would stop at hilton hospital on the way home to do the blood test, to see if we pregnant or not, so by the time we got home we would have got the results of the test.
in true j fashion of course we couldn’t go straight home after doing the blood test, j decided we needed to do some shopping (nothing stops this woman from a shopping sesh).
we stopped at the mushroom farm store in assagay¬†when j got the call from Dr C rooms, j left me at the till to pay (as usual) for our groceries and walked out to take the call. as soon as i paid and started walking out, j had finished the call and could see a few tears in her eyes(expecting the worse), i asked “annnnnnd???” to which she gave me the thumbs up. i dropped the groceries in the car park, kissed and hugged my wifey with all my love. we were both in so much shock that we had been given the good news besides the 12% odds we were up against. j even said the sister that called also couldn’t believe it that we got it on the first AI try.
once we had been given the great news, we had to phone the lab again as Dr C wanted to check progesterone levels in j blood, to see if she needed meds to help.
we have told our parents and we have given strict instructions that no one is to know until we get the all clear from Dr C.
the results came back positive for the progesterone test and we now have a scan scheduled for 22 March, hopefully i little 2 week old blob sticks/stays and we can get to have a photoshoot when scan day arrives.

we are very happy, overwhelmed and in shock

Day 13 – Today is THE day

told J to take a ovulation test this morning to see if the trigger worked, she wasn’t overly keen since she didn’t know if she could handle anymore disappointment but would you look at that – its positive (=^.^=)
i’ve taken the day off today so just waiting for the time to go on by so i can put my baby gravy in the cup and see if the magic happens (lets hope and pray)
so i have done my deed and placed my swimmers¬†in the cup, i had to go to the fertility clinic downstairs from Dr C rooms and get reacquainted with the bathroom stall once again in order to produce the goods, still sad that they don’t provide any “motivation” for this process (nothing like the movies).
J came an hour later and was provided with a syringe and a test tube, she was told to keep our “babies” warm by keeping the test tube in her bra until it was time for Dr C to do the AI procedure.
We went upstairs and then quickly ushered in to the room, Dr C came in doing a few checks, again commended J on what a good ovulation she has had, showed us these tweezer like contraption and how stringy J fluid was, i dunno but we will take any positivity that comes our way. Dr C put our cleaned/washed “babies” in their new home, told J to lay there for at least 10 minutes on the bed and then gave some orders and rather loudly “YOU WILL HAVE INTERCOURSE TONIGHT” (Woohoo).
After the 10 minutes of J chilling on the bed, we went to the reception area, the sister came out and told us, J must go for bloods on the 27th, which suits us since we away that weekend and taken that day off.
Now its the waiting game again and see if this turns out positive…fingers crossed.

Day 10 – Scan

So today we went for the scan to see how the lining and eggs are doing.
Dr C didn’t seem to impressed with the thickness of the lining but nothing he said we must be concerned about. he then went on to see the eggs, J had 1 nice egg on the one side and then the Dr C seemed to get quite excited about what he saw on the other side, 2 massive size eggs. “TWINS” was Dr C remark when he saw this (OH YES PLEASE – GREAT NEWS).
the sister then explained the next step of our plan, we needed to do an ovulation test for the next 3 days (including today) and when we have a positive result, J will need to go for bloods to see what her LH level is at and if Dr C is happy with the level then we would have insemination the next day BUT if we didn’t get a positive result by the morning of day 13 then J will need a trigger for the ovualtion.
Once our app was done we went in search for ovulation test, sister recommended we use the CLearBlue range which we obviously took her advice however the result was negative.
J did the test again in the eve and again negative ūüė¶

we have a plan

J hasn’t got a proper period yet, so we cheekily decided to take a preggos test, hey you never know, but it was a strong definite NO.
so we went and saw the nurse¬†at Dr C rooms¬†and¬†we’ve been given our plan and drugs.
The nurse showed us(mostly me) how to prepare the needles and mix the fluids as J defos was not going to have the stomach to stab herself (in the stomach).
Since J¬†hasn’t got a proper flow will count day 1 as tomorrow-29th.
Also no alcohol and caffeine, this has gone down like a lead balloon since J loves her coffee.
So 1 tablet a day for 5 days from day 3 and injections every alternate day from day 3
Day 10 we go for the scan to see how the eggs are growing.
